 
The Pinnacles of Gunung Api
Take up the challenge to view the pinnacles, located in a shallow valley
1,200 metres above sea level. The adventure begins with an exciting
2-hour boat trip over rapids. On days when the water level gets low,
be prepared to shove the boats over the rock-strewn rapids. A 3-4 hour
trek through virgin forests brings you to a park hut on the bank of
the Melinau river where you can rest for the night. The next morning,
begin with a 4-hour climb and reach the viewing point that overlooks
the pinnacles. The smooth razor-edged pinnacles measure 20 metres wide
at the base and 45 metres in height. Separated by deep fissures and
low bushy mountain forest, they present a spectacular sight when viewed
from above.
Day 1
Deer & Lang Caves - Estimate Time of Arrival 1230hrs
Miri Airport and transfer to Mulu National Park via air. On arrival
transfer to your accommodation for check in. In the afternoon, take
a scenic 3 km plank walk through primary rainforest to Lang & Deer
Caves. At sunset observe spectacular exodus of million of bats leaving
the cave. Return to Park HQ by 1900hrs. Overnight at Mulu Park HQ area.
Day 2
Wind & Clearwater Caves - Camp 5 (L, D) - trail map
In the morning, proceed by longboat upriver to Wind Cave and Clearwater
cave. After caving proceed to Long Litut (1hr boat ride). On arrival
at Long Litut, lunch, and start trekking to camp 5 (3hrs) through a
mixed forest. Overnight at Camp 5.
Day 3
Gunung Api / Pinnacles (B, L, D)
After breakfast, start to scale Gunung Api for the limestone pinnacles.
The climb is very challenging and taxing and will take about 4-5 hours.
Arrive at the pinnacles' viewpoint in time for a packed lunch. Descend
back to Camp 5 and overnight.
Day 4
Back to Park HQ
Depart Camp 5, and trek to Long Litut. Proceed downstream to Park HQ.
After lunch, free and easy. Dinner at 7pm.
Day 5
Mulu - Miri - Estimate Time of Departure 1325hrs
After breakfast, transfer (11am) to Mulu airport for flight out, your
adventure end here
