Quick Overview
Week long backpacking holiday into the alpine valleys of Mt Siguniang(Four Girls Mountain) in Ngawa near Chengdu, embrace stunning snow mountains views of Mount Siguniang and tranquil pristine forest in Changping and Shuangqiao Valley.
Mt. Siguniang area is a stunning 4 peaked mountain range (the highest 6250 m) in the North West of Sichuan. On this tour will be able to summit the 5025m first peak (Dafeng) of Mt Siguniang and require no technical mountain experience. All you will need is to be physically fit! You will expereince the local tibetan culture, trek along 3 of the stunning valleys in the Mt Siguniang area, as well as seeing the stunning scenary and conquer Dafeng!
A full day’s drive is required to reach the local Tibetan town (Rilong) where from hotel. To help people acclimatize to the high altitude of the region, you will spend a day walking along the picturesque Changping Valley. The climbs will take a total of 4 days, a long hike up to Dafeng Base camp where will stay in a basic mountain hut overnight, and then early morning at 2.00am will start the following day for the long slow plod up the slopes of Dafeng, normally take 3 to 4 hours to summit Da Feng and return to basecamp. The third climbing day is recuperation, with only a short walk to Erfeng basecamp for some basic training and take early rest. The final climbing day is another tough day with very early start and a long steep trek up Erfeng, with the final 400m or so requiring ropes. After Summiting the mountain, will return to base camp for breakfast, then continue back to Rilong. Will drive to Chendgu from Rilong town early morning.

Itinerary
DAY 1 ARRIVE IN CHENGDU

KL to Chengdu
Double check your equipment and ensure you have not forgotten or missing anything.

DAY 2 CHENGDU TO RILONG 3200M (BY ROAD)
An early 8:00am start is required as Rilong is over 250km from Chengdu. After an hour or so, you will briefly stop at the town of Yingxiu devastated by 8.0 Reiter scale earthquake in 2008. Roughly halfway to Rilong, will stop at Wolong for lunch before continuing on our journey. As we travel further into the Sichuan Mountains, the more impressive the scenery becomes. The spectacular steep sided green hills dotted with picturesque Tibetan villages can easily viewed from the top of the numerous high passes the route will take (e.g. Balangshan Pass (4520m)). On arrival in the Tibetan town of Rilong, you will eat and stay at a traditional guesthouse.

DAY 3 HIKE ALONG CHANGPING VALLEY (3600M)
To help with acclimatization for our forthcoming climb, we will visit and walk along the Changping Valley, a long gently sloping sided valley, featuring the spectacular untouched scenery. Starting at 09:00 from your guesthouse, the days 18km hike will allow you to peer into the cultures of local minorities, see the stunning (weather dependant) snow-capped views of Mt.Siguniang, Mt. Pomiu & Mt. Luotuofeng (Camel peak) and visit the Tibetian temple, Lamasi. On return to the guesthouse at Rilong, final preparations for our ascent of Mt. Siguniang will be made.

DAY 4 HIKE FROM RILONG TO DAFENG BASE CAMP (4350M)
The second day of hiking (17km) will take about 7 hours. As we progress along the route we will pass Tibetan pagoda’s (Baita) and prayer flags. Finally we leave the narrow valleys and start to climb up the mountain, where the landscape opens out to sport even more spectacular views of the numerous impressive peaks (many unclimbed and some even unnamed). The further we hike up the mountain, the wilder landscape becomes. As we arrive at the base camp (4350m), the stupendous rock walls of Mt Siguniang will gradually emerge. If time permits, will hike around base camp to further help acclimatization, before returning base camp to rest and prepare for tomorrows climb.

DAY 5 SUMMIT OF DAFENG (5030M) AND RETURN TO DAFENG BASE CAMP
An early 2am departure from basecamp give us the best chance of summiting the mountain. Trek up the steps toward the high-pass directly north of the base camp. At the high-pass, the trail goes to the reverse slopes and curls right up to the summit of Dafeng. Descend to the Dafeng base camp at 4400m. Vertical ascend: about 700m

DAY 6 TREK TO ERFENG BASE CAMP (4200M)
It takes 3 hours to trek to Erfeng Base Camp with most of it being downhill. We will go for another short acclimatization walk, after which our trekking guides will provide the necessary Mountaineering training required for Erfeng. Finally, there is the chance to take early rest.

DAY 7 SUMMIT OF ERFENG (5276M) AND RETURN TO RILONG
A similar early departure is require to ensure summit success and it is uphill climb right from the beginning so go low and tackle the climb one step at a time. After initial short steep climb the summit route follows a gentle sloping valley which progressively steepens to a plateau. From the back of the plateau rocky slabs of about 40-45degree are encountered (Ropes may be required for the last 200 meters of the ascent). Physical fitness and mental strength is needed. We should reach the summit at approximately 10:00am.After summiting, we will descend back down to base camp, eat a quick lunch before collect your remaining equipment and hiking back to the Rilong guesthouse. It will be a long walk but if you are physically fit then it will not be too big of a problem. If we have run out of energy, we can choose to ride a horse back to Rilong. (You need to pay the fees for the horse yourself).
*If you do not make it to the summit before 11:00, you will have to descend as a safety precaution.

DAY 8 RETURN TO CHENGDU
After breakfast at 08:00am, we will start our journey by road back to Chengdu and stay a 2 to 3 star hotel.

It Is for me?
For the trek on this trip the general rule is the more preparation you have done for it, the more you will enjoy it. The climb is pretty strenuous as we walk through hilly terrain with our back packs and the temperature is often hot and muggy changing to -5 Celsius at the top of Siguniang (4 sisters). MMG recommend that you undertake regular aerobic activities in 3 month before you trekking, particularly if you are not in the habit of regular exercise. Walking, jogging, swimming or riding a bike are all good ways to increase your aerobic fitness, which will allow you to enjoy the trek to its fullest. This trip is advisable to join MMG organize training trip before join the trip.
