The Gosaikunda area of Langtang region has been demarcated as a religious site. Gosainkunda Lake, situated at an elevation of 4,380 meters, is a sacred place to Hindus, Buddhists as well as Shamans and one of the most visited pilgrimages sites in Nepal. According to the legend, the holy Gosainkunda Lake is believed to be formed by the Trishul (Trident) of Lord Shiva when he was suffering intoxication from swallowing poison. After drinking the cold water from the lake, he was relieved of the toxicity, and since then Gosainkunda Lake has been a sanctified place for many Hindus and Buddhists. Its holy water is considered significant particularly during the Janai Purnima, sacred thread changing festival.
The Gosaikunda Pass Trek begins with an ascend across the forest from Dhunche or Syabrubesi. During the walk, we cross beautiful rhododendron forests, culturally enriched villages, paddy fields, and snowy landscapes. On the way, it offers breathtaking Himalayan scenery from west to east and also takes to the numerous small and big captivating lakes of Gosaikunda.
Gosainkunda Trek is a deeply recommended for those pilgrims who seek for a religious journey along with serene Himalayan scenery. Important Note
It Is for me?
For the trek on this trip the general rule is the more preparation you have done for it, the more you will enjoy it. The climb is pretty strenuous as we walk through hilly terrain with our back packs and the temperature is often cool and can drop to -15 Celsius at the Lantang area. MMG recommend that you undertake regular aerobic activities in three months before you trekking, particularly if you are not in the habit of regular exercise. Walking, jogging, swimming or riding a bike is all good ways to increase your aerobic fitness, which will allow you to enjoy the trek to its fullest.
Every effort will be made to keep to the above schedule, but as this is Adventure expedition in a remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it. Weather conditions, road slides, avalanches, public strikes, natural changes of walking track, vehicle breakdowns and the health of fellow travelers can all contribute to changes. We will try to ensure that the trip runs according to schedule. |
