Trip Introduction

The Bhutanese name for their country is a Druk Yul, which means Land of the Thunder Dragon.Thus, the Druk Yul tour is by name a comprehensive tour package in which you will get chance to see everything that the Druk Yul has to offer along with some noticeable glimpse of Kathmandu.  On this tour, you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with some major heritage sites and architectural values of Kathmandu valley with spectacular mountain scenery of remarkable natural beauty and remote and dramatic monasteries of Bhutan that rule in the pristine and intact Bhutanese landscape.  Above all, you will get a chance to interact with the local people and to witness the way of life in Bhutan and Kathmandu.

Day to Day Itinerary for Druk Yul and Nepal Tour

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Your Druk Yul tour starts as you arrive at the airport at Kathmandu. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, we will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the Hotel Shanker or similar standard hotel for rest since you will be just past through a long flight. You might visit our office if interested after some rest and later in the evening we will organize a welcome dinner at an excellent traditional Nepalese Restaurant.

Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing
The day will start with a guided tour of Kathmandu's historical and spiritual attractions; including the historic Durbar Square, the famous Swayambhunath (Monkey temple) from where you will see beautiful view of Kathmandu valley, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, and Bouddhanath Stupa, which is the second biggest Stupa of the world . After returning back to the hotel, you will make some preparation for next day's journey to Bhutan.

Day 03: Kathmandu-Paro
Today, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Paro (2,135m/7,000 ft) that offers fascinating views of the eastern Himalayan range of Nepal including the Mt. Everest. On arrival, our Druk Yul representative will pick you up and transfer to the hotel for a short rest and lunch. Later the day, you will explore around the Paro valley, visit one of the strategic but ruined fortress of Drugyul Dzong. From here, on a clear day you can see Mount Jumolhari, Bhutan's second-highest mountain at 7,314meters. You will continue through the beautiful valley to visit the watch tower, known locally as Ta-Dzong which is now the National Museum of Bhutan. Day 04: Paro-Thimphu
Today, after breakfast you will hike to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery, which is Druk Yul most famous monastery situated at 3180 meters. Guru Rinpoche is said to have flown on the back of a tigress to meditate in a cave where Taktsang Monastery now stands. Lunch will be served in the Cafeteria Restaurant, located about halfway up on the mountain. The monastery is perched on the edge of a steep cliff, about 900 meters above Paro Valley. After having explored the monastery, you will hike down to Paro. Then drive to Thimphu, capital city of Bhutan. Overnight at hotel in Thimphu.(Breakfast, Lunch & dinner are included)

Day 05: Thimphu-Wangduephodrang
Today, you will explore the major sites of Thimphu on a relaxed guided tour. Highlights include the memorial Chorten built in memory of the late third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, commanding 15th century Changangkha Temple, the traditional indigenous hospital, the National Library with its treasure troves of manuscripts and ancient texts and the traditional painting school where education is free for students to learn the ancient skills of traditional painting. Later on, you will drive through beautiful countryside to Wangduephodrang across the Dochula Pass, where on a clear day you can get spectacular views of the Himalayas. From the pass, drive downhill through the forests of rhododendron, fir and hemlock. Check into the hotel on arrival. Overnight at hotel in Wangduephodrang. (Breakfast, Lunch & dinner are included)

Day 06: Wangduephodrang-Paro
After breakfast, you will visit the Punakha Dzong, which is stunningly situated in between the male and female rivers like an anchored ship. On the way back, you will visit Chimi Lhakhang, which is a fertility temple dedicated to Divine Madman or Lama Drukpa Kuenley. If you wish, receive the blessing from the Lama's wooden phallus! Continue drive to Paro via Dochu La Pass. Here, you will visit the new Druk Wangyal Monastery, which is the only of its kind in the country with elaborate paintings depicting the lineage of the present monarchy and their visionary works. Stop in Thimphu for lunch. Later in the evening, you can drive to Paro. Overnight at hotel in Paro.(Breakfast, Lunch & dinner are included)

Day 07: Paro-Kathmandu
Today you will be back to Kathmandu from Druk Yul. This morning we will transfer you to the Paro airport to catch your short but very scenic flight to reach Kathmandu that goes again above the massive Himalayan range such as Mt Everest, Kanchenjunga, Chomolhari, Tsrim Gang and Jichu Drake. On arrival at Kathmandu, we will pick you up and transfer to the hotel. Remaining time you can just rest and relax at the hotel or can explore surrounding areas in Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.(Breakfast & farewell dinner are included)

Day 08: Leisure at Kathmandu
After a wonderful visit to Druk Yul, today is a free day at Kathmandu to relax at the hotel and watch and observe Nepalese lifestyle or if interested you may extend your trip as additional sightseeing or one hour Himalayan flight on request. Today, you can do your last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Breakfast included)

Day 09: Departure from Kathmandu or extend your trip
If departing, you will be transferred to the international airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination or if you have other trips to extend, you can simply go ahead with your program.

During the visit in Kathmandu we provide you twin sharing accommodation in 4 star Deluxe Hotel Shanker or similar in Kathmandu and 'A' categories hotel during the Bhutan tours. Single supplementary available on request and it cost USD 290 but it's hard to get on festival time in Bhutan.


Regarding the foods we provide you breakfast in kathmandu and full board in Bhutan. Complementary welcome dinner and farewell dinner provided by the company in Kathmandu. Lunch & dinner are not included in the cost during the kathmandu stay and bar & beverage bills also excluded on the cost.

A deposit of RM4000 is required upon confirmation and the balance must be paid in full 30 days prior to the departure date.
Non-payment by required date may result in the cancellation of your booking and subjected to cancellation charges.

Special Note (For trekkers):
It is recommended that all trekkers should have themse lves medically checked before attempting any high altitude trek. If you have a history of suffering from the following ailments, it is highly recommended that you should refrain from trekking to a high altitude.
Hypertension, Arthritis, Heart Disease, Severe Anemia, Peptic Ulcers, Epileptic Fits, Obesity (overweight). Chronic Asthma, Muscular Cramps, Hepatitis (Jaundice); or any other disease, which may hamper the trekker.
