The drive from Kathmandu to Lhasa Tour via Everest Base Camp takes seven days over the 'Friendship Highway'; along the way stopping at quietly enchanting Buddhist monasteries and remote villages untouched by modern civilization. A generous two nights will be spent at Everest Base Camp, time to take in some unforgettable views of the highest mountain on the planet. The road also passes through quiet Nyalam, the historical Xigatse, Gyantse and Namcho Lake. And that's all before the road even comes into Lhasa itself; the spiritual heart of this country. For centuries the home of the Dalai Lamas and the target of devout pilgrimages, you could spend happy weeks lost in Lhasa's historical and spiritual treasures. Outline Itinerary:

01. Day: KL to Kathmandu
Free and easy.

02. Day: Kathmandu to Nyalam (3750m)-162Kms.
Early morning drive (Approx. 5 hours) from Kathmandu to Kodari (1873m). After completing immigration and custom formalities drive up hill to Zhangmu (2300m). This is Tibetan border town. The Tibetan Guide will meet the Group on arrival at the check post and we drive further road climbs and climbs to Nyalam for overnight. On the way you will see fantastic view of deep valley with some overflowing waterfalls.

03 Day: Nyalam to Lhatse (4350m)-220Kms.
Drive (Approx. 7 hours) to Xegar crossing two spectacular passes. Nyalam pass (3800m) and Lalung La pass (5082m). This drive offers fantastic view of the high mountains including, Mount Everest (8848m) Jugal Himal, Mt. Makalu (8464m) etc. O/nt. In Lhatse

04. Day: Lhatse to Shigatse (3900m)-244Kms.
Drive (Approx. 6 hrs) to reach Shigatse, the place of famous Tashilunpo Monastery and seat of Panchen Lama until his death in 1989 with its huge Thangka wall which is clearly visible from the north side of the road O/nt. At Shigatse.

05. Day: Shigatse to Gyantse (3950m)-90kms.
In the morning visit the Tashilunpo Monastery and the free bazaar of Xigaste. After lunch embark on a pleasant 2 hours drive to Gyantse. Here you visit the Khumbum Stupa and Phalkot Monastery. O/nt. In Gyantse.

06. Day: Gyantse to Lhasa (3650m)-259kms.
The drive to Lhasa takes 08 hours, crossing 2 passes The Karo La (5010m) and Kamba La (4794m) pass and lake Yamdrok Tso (Turquoise Lake). You will cross the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahamaputra) river and see the distant views of the Potala Palace. O/nt. At Hotel

07/08. Day: Lhasa Sightseeing Tour
Visit the Potala Palace, Norbulinka Palace, Drepung & Sera Monastery, Lokhang Temple & Markhor Bazaar. O/night at Hotel

09.Day: Lhasa to Namutso Lake
Drive to Namutso Lake, literally heavenly lake, is situated in a mountainous area. It is the biggest lake in Tibet and the 2nd biggest salt lake in China as well as the highest lake in the world. Namutso Lake is one of the 3 holy lakes in Tibet, playing an important role among Tibetans. Every sheep year in Tibetan calendar, the ‘Trekking Namutso Lake’ Festival is held and countless pilgrims from far away visit the lake to pay homage. Stay overnight at guest house.

10 Day: Namutso Lake to Lhasa drive back and spend free time

11 Day: Lhasa to Sakya Monastery
Drive from Lhasa to Sakya. Located in the southern half of Tibet, the monastery is divided into two separate monasteries- a northern branch and a southern branch. While the Northern Monastery was destroyed and damaged over the years, only small speckle of what was once a magnificent kingdom remains. Stay overnight at guest house.

12 Day: Sakya/ New Tinggri (Shegar)/Old Tingri/ Rongbuk Monastery / E.B.C
Early morning start driving to Rongbuk via Lhatse and Shegar, cross over Gyatsola Pass at 5,220m, which is the highest pass en route and you will see the Himalaya mountain ranges in a clear day.

13 Day: Everest Base Camp Excursion
Approx. 2 hr. trek from The Rongbuk Monastery will lead you to the base of the highest peak on earth - The North Face of Mount Everest (8848m.) Or Mount Quomolangma in Tibetan. Explore the Base Camp and The Rongphu glacier. Retreat to lodge. The base camp itself is dry and barren, but the views of Everest more than compensate for this. It is a truly awe-inspiring place with the sheer north face of the highest mountain in the world towering above you. No tour vehicles, apart from expeditions and trekking, are allowed beyond Rongbuk so you can walk or take a horse cart

14 Day: Rongbuk/ Old Tingri/ Zhangmu
After see the sunrise at Rongphu, start driving to Zhangmu via Nyalam and Old Tingri. Overnight at Zhangmu

15 Day: Zhangmu ( Nepal Boarder)/ Kathmandu
After breakfast,our guide will help you clear the customs and transfer you to the Friendship Bridge at the border. Our Nepalese guide will pick you up there, after you check in at Nepali Immigration office, then drive about 5 hours to Kathmandu city, enjoy the scenery of great white waters along the way. Overnight in Kathmandu

16 Day: Kathmandu to KL

Service includes:

1. Transportation: Mini bus from Day 1 to Day 9 and 2 jeeps from Day 10 to Day14
